Historical map and guide of Ancient Britain
(1:625 000 scale (1 cm to 6.25 km or 1 inch to 10 miles)

This map and guide shows the geographical distribution of some of the most important visible ancient monuments of Great Britain. Ancient monuments date from the earliest times to about AD 1000, and archaeological periods within this time span are distinguished by the use of different symbols and colours on the map.

The location of monuments is highlighted by displaying archaeological details against the background of a modern map base.

An index to all sites is provided, with each monument named, given a National Grid reference number, and the relevant 1:50 000 scale Landranger® sheet number so that the sites may be exactly pinpointed. The map is printed with North and South Britain back to back and is complemented by an informative text, colour photographs of selected sites and useful chronological table.
